One nominee apiece for Student Senate Presidential and Vice Presidential elections

02/22/2009

The Student Senate Presidential elections are here again, and Amos Mainville has made his bide for President, while Kevin Kostyk made his for Vice President.
The two students are the only nominees running although both positions will have a spot for a write in online.

Mainville is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering major and remains active in student organizations: being the President of Robot Club, Student Representative and active member of AU Rescue Squad as well as the Outdoor Club. Mainville had no comment about the upcoming election.

Kostyk is a sophomore Political Science & English major who also involves himself in a variety of extracurricular activities: Alfred Mens Lacrosse Team, President of Alfred Snowboarding, Treasurer and Senate representative for Political Science Club, Peer Review Board Member, Co-Chair of this years Breast Cancer Awareness Day, and Fencing Team Coach.

In order to qualify as a candidate each student must acquire 150 signatures by petitioning other AU students.

President Nate Kisselburgh was elected in September 2007 due to an amendment allowing a special election for an interim president since President Jameson Pownall did not return to AU due to suspension.

“I would like to see the new administration continue to bring student issues and concerns to the proper administrator and continue to fight for student rights,” Kisselburgh said.

The voting will take place on the Blackboard website under “Student Vote 2009” Monday February 23rd and Tuesday February 24th. The ballot will appear as a test. Remember to login to Blackboard and vote for these candidates or write in who you wish.
